Networking for Community Health:Learning Community Meeting

The Networking for Community Health program had a Learning Community Meeting on November 10th, 2009 at The California Endowment's Oakland Conference Center.

Grantees gathered to discuss and engage in learning opportunities around their current collaborative projects.This Learning Community meeting had a special presentation on "Making the Case for Health with Media Advocacy" by staff from the Berkeley Media Studies Group. It offered the opportunity for grantees to share their progress with peers and for individual projects to consult with data experts from BTW-informing change.

The Community Clinic Voice Members Meeting
Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009-The California Endowment, Oakland
9:30am-3:30pm

This gathering offered a guided tour of the redesigned Voice site and gave insight and ideas on how to make best use of the site's new social networking capabilities.

E.H.R. Pathways to Successful Adoption
Wednesday, July 8, 2009 - Sacramento Convention Center
Thursday, July 9, 2009 - Anaheim Marriott Hotel
9 A.M. - 5 P.M.

This free convening for community clinics and health centers on models for successful adoption and use of electronic health records (E.H.R.) was held in Sacramento on 07/08/09 and on 07/09/09 in Anaheim. The day included distinguished policy makers, fellow community clinics who had adopted E.H.R. and a vendor fair of CCHIT-certified products which had been previously installed in community clinics and health centers. A special feature of the day was presentations by health-center controlled networks which had supported community clinics to adopt and use E.H.R.

Grantees learned what it took to prepare for implementing E.H.R.s, the experience of colleagues, viewed demos and learned about different E.H.R. products and networks.

Networking for Community Health Learning Community
The CCI Networking for Community Health Grantee Learning Community was held on April 28, 2009 at the Wilshire Grand hotel in Los Angeles. This meeting provided an opportunity for NCH grantees to come together, share experiences and discuss challenges that they are facing in their projects.

CCI Medical Directors Alumni and CHCF Health Care Leadership Network 2009 Joint Spring Meeting
This meeting brought together our two statewide health care leadership networks to continue to learn and network with their colleagues. The members of the CHCF Health Care Leadership Network are clinically trained health care professionals from a variety of settings including community clinics, group practices, hospitals, academic medical centers, health plans and public health organizations in California who have completed the 2 year CHCF Health Care Leadership Program. The members of the CCI Medical Directors Alumni Session are Medical Directors and Associate Medical Directors from community clinics in California who have completed the Harvard School of Public Health's Managing Ambulatory Health Care Program.

Our first joint meeting of the two Alumni groups in 2008 was very successful and both leadership groups felt that there was a lot of value gained by meeting together. We will bring the two groups together again in 2009 to increase their learning and networking opportunities and to strengthen the field of health care leaders across the state. The 2009 meeting will focus on Health 2.0, patient centered care and the medical home concept.

Networking for Community Health Grantee Gathering
This grantee convening was held on December 8, 2008 at Preservation Park in Oakland. This was the first meeting of the Networking for Community Health Grantees to share updates on their projects and to begin to form learning communities for continued support. Thank you to all of our grantees who participated in a day of active and fruitful discussion.

Medical Directors Alumni Session Joint Meeting with the CHCF Health Care Leadership Network
This conference was held on March 15 - 16, 2008 in San Francisco. Networking for Community Health
This conference was held on December 5, 2007 to learn and engage in the question and answer to: What's the appropriate next investment for CCI to make in order to help California's clinics best position themselves for the future? The Networking for Community Health RFP was released.

2007 Medical Directors Alumni Session
This conference was held on March 28 - 29, 2007 for Medical Directors who previously attended the MAHC sessions either in San Francisco or Boston.  The focus of this Alumni Session was on developing physician managers as leaders and champions of quality improvement.  Presentations and materials are posted in the Library.

Enhancing Collaborative Leadership Program
This conference was held on March 26 - 29, 2007 for pairs of Medical Directors and their Executive Directors/CEOs.  The Enhancing Collaborative Leadership Program focused on the following topics: Team-building, Recruitment and Retention of Provider Staff, Financial Management and Growth, Quality.

2006 Major Capital Project Seminar
This conference was held on November 2, 2006 for clinics with active major capital projects to focus on capital development.  The conference included a plenary session that focused on fundraising from individuals; intensive workshops on capital campaigns, fund development, debt financing and business planning; peer group discussions led by grantees on capital project lessons learned and problem-solving; and a session focusing on green building and operating.  Presentations and materials from the conference are posted in the Library.

Getting to the Sun: Conference and Celebration
This conference was held on September 14 - 15, 2006 for CCI grantees to reflect on CCI's technology program, what it has helped accomplish, and to talk together about the next steps in technology-enabled quality improvement.  Presentations and materials from the conference are posted in the Library.

HSPH: Managing Amublatory Health Care Program
This meeting was held from March 13 – 16, 2006. Medical Directors from California's community clinics and health centers participated in this week long session as part of CCI’s commitment to increasing the important leadership role of these medical directors. This was the fourth year of the program and we intend to have one more round in 2007. Realizing the Benefits of Health IT for Community Health Centers
This symposium, held on November 8, 2005 in Washington D.C., brought together a wide range of experts to discuss the unique mission, needs, and requirements of community health centers in adopting Information Technology. The discussion focused on the current state of health information technology in community health centers and the vision for where they will need to be in order to achieve their goals for efficiency, quality and population health. It also covered the requirements and challenges in reaching their vision. More >
